Kayaking Englewood's Oyster Creek
Oyster Creek is another one of my favorites. Here you have a wonderful protected mangrove lined creek and, with a short paddle, the open waters of Lemon Bay. Usually, a quick paddle out to the bay is rewarded by lots of wildlife. On my last visit I saw a Manatee, a Dolphin, lots of Mullet, an Eagle soaring over Cedar Point and other wading birds as well.
The entrance to the launch area is across from Cedar Point Park 2300 Placida Rd and easy to miss so, keep an eye out. There are no parking fee and no facilities but the parking area and launch itself is in good shape.
This is also one of my fishing destinations depending on time of year and weather.
